What is my business worth?

Seven questions, two minutes, an honest range. Based on UK market multiples by sector and size, adjusted for your country and business profile.

1About the business
The closest match is enough. Multiples differ a lot between sectors.
Where the business operates and earns most of its revenue. Adjusts the UK multiples.
2Your figures for the last 12 months
Last 12 months. Total sales before costs, excluding VAT.
Last 12 months. After all costs and before tax, before your own salary is added back.
Optional, per year. Salary, drawings and personal expenses paid by the business are added back to earnings.
3Business profile
How much depends on you personally. "Little" means a team runs the business and it would carry on for six months without you.

About the valuation calculator

How is the estimate calculated?
We take your net profit, add back the owner's salary, and apply a profit multiple typical for your sector and size. The multiple is then adjusted for the trend, how much the business depends on you, years of trading and whether the property is freehold. The result is a range, not a single number.
Is the result a formal valuation?
No. It is an indicative range based on the figures you enter. For a figure you can rely on with a bank, a partner or a court, we prepare a written valuation with the method and the comparable deals behind it.
What figures do I need?
Annual turnover, net profit, the owner's salary and the number of years trading. For a full valuation we also ask for the last two or three years of accounts and the lease or title documents.
Why is my business valued lower than a similar one listed for sale?
Listings show asking prices, and completed deals usually close below them. A business that depends heavily on its owner, shows a falling trend or has a short lease is valued lower than one with the same profit and a stable team.
Is my data confidential?
Yes. The figures are used only to prepare your estimate. We do not publish them or pass them to third parties, and you can ask us to delete them at any time.
